The 63rd session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs started in M-Building of Vienna International Center with participation of the secretary of Iran Drug Control Headquarters on Monday.
Brigadier-General Eskandar Momeni is to deliver a speech in the conference, said Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Kazem Gharibabadi.
Gharibabadi said that Brigadier-General Momeni will have a meeting with the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Ghada Waly, and heads of some delegations.
The event is to discuss implementation of international agreements on controlling narcotics and following up commitments in national, regional and international levels.
Delegations from UN member states, representatives of NGOs and international organizations will participate in the three-day event.
Meanwhile an exhibition of Iran’s measures to fight drug narcotics will also be open to public at UN office in Vienna.
The agenda of the event include issues such as implementation of international agreements; pursuing implementation of national, regional, and international commitments mentioned in the 2019 Ministerial Declaration on Drugs and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Beijing, Jan 15, IRNA - The head of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Drug Control Headquarters, Eskandar Momeni, who is visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese Minister of Public Security, met with Deputy Head of Chinese Customs Xu Wei in Beijing on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the two countries' counter-trafficking officials were introduced to exchange information on the smuggling of chemical precursors.
They also agreed on further cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.

Momeni, Secretary-General of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Iran’s Drug Control Headquarters, arrived in Beijing on Monday heading a high-level delegation at the invitation of the Chinese Minister of Public Security.
He also met with Chinese State Council member Jao Ke Ji in Beijing yesterday and chairman of the National Commission on Drug Abuse and Liu Yugene, Deputy Director of Counter Narcotics and Terrorism, Ministry of Public Security and Deputy Head of the National Commission on Drug Control.


Beijing, Jan 16, IRNA – Iran and China have set up a committee on better coordination for drug prevention and drug treatment services and also fighting narcotics activities, a senior Iranian official said on Thursday.
Secretary of Iran Drug Control Headquarters Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni told IRNA that the joint committee will coordinate counter-narcotics activities and exchange of delegations between the two countries.
Momeni, heading a high-ranking Iranian delegation, arrived in Beijing on Monday (Jan 13) at the invitation of the Chinese public security minister.
About his three-day visit to Beijing, Momeni said Iran and China agreed to open up a direct channel to share questions and experiences.
Momeni also said his China's visit was aimed at developing mutual cooperation in combating narcotic activities.
About his meeting with Chinese public security minister, Momeni said the two shared common views on the US unilateralism which badly affects all issues, particularly the fight against illegal drug activities.
Equipment to fight against narcotic operations will be supplied by China, Momeni said, adding that Iran, instead, will share its valuable experiences in drug prevention and treatment with China.
The two sides have also ensured coordination in presenting the same stance to the upcoming international anti-drug meeting in Geneva.
Although fight against drug trafficking activities has cost Iran a lot, the country has been strongly taking anti-narcotic measures over the past thirty years, according to police officials.
Anti-drug campaign has claimed lives of about 4,000 Iranian policemen in armed clashes on border areas with Afghanistan.

Beijing, JAN 14, IRNA – Head of Iran's Drug Control Headquarters Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni, who visited China at the invitation of the Chinese Minister of Public Security, visited several drug-related centers in Beijing on Tuesday.
According to IRNA, General Momeni and his accompanying delegation visited the National Drugs Laboratory of China on Tuesday, after which they were closely acquainted with China's efforts by attending the Beijing Drugs Training Center.
The Beijing Addicts Rehabilitation Center was one of the other centers that Iran's Drug Control Headquarters’ delegation visited on Tuesday that operated by the Chinese police.
In this center addicts who do not receive treatment are compulsorily kept in this center for two years, in addition to physical and psychological treatment processes, attempt to improve behavior in different dimensions.
