8 September 2016: Director General for International Relations Ambassador Bayat said on Thursday that constructive cooperation among international community should be guaranteed against world drug problem and its negative impacts.
He analyzing the country's counter- drug measures and achievements called on UNODC to take any necessary measures to fund the "Country Partnership Programme" signed late 2015. He appreciating the UNODC in Tehran asked about designation of the permanent representative, too.
Active Representative of UNODC in Tehran, Mr. Schmidt, acknowledging I.R. Iran as a leading country in fight against world drug problem expressed hope that the permanent representative of UNODC in Tehran will start work in late December 2016 or early January 2017. He explained new decisions made by some countries to assist Iran's counter – narcotic programme, too.
Ambassador Bayat said acknowledging of our measures will be considered as "encouraging point" by relevant national counter- narcotic agencies, but further practical assistance is needed including operational information exchange among all stakeholders particularly in Balkan transit Route.
