New York, April 21, IRNA – Iran and Singapore will launch joint campaign against narcotic drugs, hallucinations and money laundering.

In a meeting on the sidelines of the first UN General Assembly special session to address global drug on Wednesday, Iran's Interior Minister Abdol-Reza Rahmani Fazli and Singapore Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, K. Shanmugam, also underlined identifying and detecting financial sources of support for drugs smugglers and launching all-out confrontation against money laundering.
The two sides will form a joint expert-level committee to study ways and means of cooperation for the purpose and compiling a related MoU.

Rahmani Fazli told the Singapore counterpart that Iran ranks first worldwide for confiscating and seizing about 40 percent of the world narcotic drugs.

He said Iran has established and set up several thousand medication centers and brought considerable number of addicts under coverage of medication support.

Shanmugam in turn said that alike Iran, Singapore opposed the legislation to legalize drugs consumption.
