Tehran, April 20, IRNA – Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli said that Iran has blocked transit of narcotics by organized groups to other countries.

In a meeting with his New Zealand counterpart Peter Dunne, he added that Iran has seriously countered drug traffickers by offering several thousands of martyrs and disabled for the cause of fighting drugs.

The Iranian minister also called on all countries to take advantage of Iran's anti-narcotics measures to support the countries including Iran that are on the frontline of the fight against drug trafficking.

Rahmani-Fazli, also Secretary General of Iran's Drug Control Headquarters (DCH), referred to seizure of over 600 tons of narcotics, voicing his country's readiness for transfer of successful experience to New Zealand.

Dunne, for his part, appreciated Iran's measures in the fight against narcotics.

Rahmani-Fazli arrived in New York early on Monday to attend the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Drugs from April 19-21.
