Tehran, March 27, IRNA – Iran and Pakistan highlighted the need for enhancing security cooperation.
In a meeting between Iran’s Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and his Pakistani counterpart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in Islamabad, the two ministers focused on ways to boost security and borderline cooperation, anti-drugs combat, fighting human traffickers and fighting terrorists and bandits.
They also decided to set up a special joint committee to identify obstacles and problems and work out practical ways to deepen and expand cooperation between the two countries in the said areas.
Rahmani Fazli visited Pakistan as a member of the delegation which accompanied President Hassan Rouhani in his two-day visit to the country.
During his stay there, President Rouhani met with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif and Premier's advisor for foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz.
He also signed six documents on cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
President Rouhani also attended a gathering of Ulema and academics of Pakistan and in his speech there underlined necessity for various Islamic sects to patch up differences and emphasize brotherhood and unity among themselves.
He also participated in a joint meeting of Iranian and Pakistani businessmen where he underlined expansion of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
