Top Russian drug enforcer due in Tehran

Moscow, Oct 23, IRNA - The head of Russia's Federal Drug Control Service, Viktor Ivanov is scheduled to arrive in Tehran on Saturday evening to attend an international conference on drug trafficking.

The top Russian drug enforcer's agenda includes talks with the heads of Iran's antidrug headquarters, coordination between the two countries' law enforcement agencies, elimination of international drug trafficking channels, as well as expansion of bilateral exchanges in antidrug policies.

Ivanov will attend an international conference on drug trafficking on Monday in Tehran with the participation of Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.

The five day conference will discuss ways to boost cooperation between regional states against drug trafficking.

In an interview with IRNA, Ivanov called Iran-Russia bilateral and multilateral cooperation against drug trafficking essential and urged the two sides to increase their collaboration.
