14 December 2014 – H.E. Mrs .Norheim AudLise, the Norwegian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Mr .Leik Boonwaat, UNODC Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran paid a visit to the Women Drug Therapeutic Centre affiliated with the Rebirth Society located in Chitgar Area of Tehran.

Mr. Deilamizadeh CEO of the Rebirth Society briefed the delegation on the various activities of the NGO in the field of prevention, treatment and harm reduction.

Ms Hamzeh, Head of Chitgar TC explained in detail the activities. The centre opened in 2010 in response to rising needs to provide therapeutic services to the increasing number of women using ATS. The TC actually replaced an earlier short-term residential treatment centre for women which had been established in the mid 2000's, which was due to its peer-oriented nature not sufficiently equipped to respond to the problem of drug use among its clients. The clients are mainly women with ATS use referring to the centre on voluntary basis fitness.

H.E. Mrs.Norheim visited different parts of the centre and in the end had a chance to talk to two recovered drug users. They shared their hard and bitter life story which really touched everyone. H.E. the Norwegian Ambassador appreciated the courage of these two women disclosing their bitter experiences with the delegation.
