Tehran, June 2, IRNA - An Iranian official says the country faces the risk of “tsunami of synthetic drugs”.
During a tour of foreign ambassadors and representatives of international organizations to eastern borders, Vice President of the Drug Control Headquarters (DCH) Ali Reza Jazini said Sunday there is no end to the campaign against narcotics.
Calling for international cooperation in the fight against drug smuggling, he said Iran uncovered 395 labs cooking crystal meth or ice during the past Iranian year (ended March 20), Iran Daily wrote in its Monday edition.
Jazini said Iran has lost 3,734 security personnel in skirmishes with drug traffickers in volatile regions bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan.
