TEHRAN, March 15 (MNA) – Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan have met in a trilateral session in Vienna to discuss fights against drug trafficking.

Abdoulreza Rahmani Fazli, Iran’s interior minister, and the secretary general of Iranian Drug Control Headquarters attended the meeting.

“Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan are resolved to consolidate the efforts to fight drug trafficking,” said Rahmani Fazli after the end of trilateral session, “all three countries provided the meeting with a report about their achievements.”

Rahmani Fazli also said that the trilateral talks had called the international community and the UN-affiliated organizations to ‘more cooperation in drug fight in terms of logistics and information transfer. “We, as three countries in the frontline of drug fight, could improve the attempts through cooperation,” he added, and that “apart from official venues, we strongly believe that we ourselves should increase the current efforts since social, economic, and human damages are being inflicted upon these three nations.”

7th meeting of Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan was an initiative by these countries, and UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov which was held in Vienna on Friday and ended today (Saturday).
